How would you feel about owning a two cylinder Alfa Romeo?
It sound incongruous or something from the early 1900s. Alfa, a sporty brand and here you are talking about just two cylinders.
And it only comes in a manual.
It’s called the Mito Twin-Air
Well I’ve got to say that while I am not a big fan of the looks I still loved the car.
Let’s see if I am out on my own. On the line is Brent Davison from the Newcastle Herald and the Illawarra Mercury.
- Is it an odd ball or a fun car?
- The engine is turbo charged with 77kw of power and 145 Nm of torque
- You had to change gear a lot – first only does about 35 km/h so you have to be alert when pulling out from a side street into a stream of traffic.
- Twin Air is a nippy little car where you have to drive it with a lot of gear changes but that can be fun.
- Does come with a 1.4 litre turbo engine.
- Twin Air fuel consumption (L/100km) 5.0 (urban), 3.8 (extra-urban), 4.2 (combined) which is a really low figure particularly for urban conditions.
- The 1.4 manual (only five speed) fuel consumption (L/100km) 5-spd manual: 7.4 (urban), 4.5 (extra-urban), 5.6 (combined). Interestingly the dual clutch automated gear box on the 1.4 litre (which has six speeds) has a better urban fuel consumption (7.1) than the manual.
- Price for the Twin Air $22,500 plus on road costs. The 1.4 litre is available at $26,500 and $28,000 plus on road costs depending on the spec level. Not a lot more than a Fiat Panda
- It’s not selling well
