We often think of developments in new technologies in vehicles as arising from motor car manufacturers – we look to Mercedes, Volvo and BMW cars for what the future may hold. Perhaps we take a broader look when we see work being done by Google with driverless cars and Apple and Microsoft with in-car operating systems.
But an area that is often overlooked is the trucking industry. Truck operators have an intense focus on operating costs and efficiencies and, we hope, on road safety.
In some ways they are leading the field in vehicle monitoring and control.
