The Paris Motor show has been and gone and a number of web sites have shown some pictures but what is the trends that the new cars represent. In other words what is the interpretation behind the cars that were on display.
To find out, let’s talk to a person who was there. Brent Davison from the Newcastle Herald and the Illwarra Mercury.
- Lamborghini as always was the biggest show stopper with its hybrid Asterion concept. – less of the star wars, batmobile angular approach. – Ferrari Daytonna at the back. Continues a theme for the Huracan.
The low slung supercar is not just the domain of Ferrari and Lamborghini
- Infiniti Q80
- A bit of the high tail about them.
- Volkswagen was a strong challenger for the biggest show stopper with its futuristic XL1 Sport, – very wide body but a narrower cabin – bit like a Le Man Car
- Iro Toyota
Cross between an SUV and a two door coupe
- Toyota previewed a new compact SUV with its C-HR concept
Some cars grow into other things
- Audi’s four-door TT Sportback was big news – TT started as a dinky little car almost in the Mazda MX-5 class
- Land Rover’s stand was headlined by its new Discovery Sport which will replace the current Freelander
Super style in a more everyday car
- Civic Type R that promises much
- Porsche: Next Panamera “will look better”
