People movers.  You get seven seats but is it with all the style of a mini bus.

The people mover market is very small.

Up till August this year it has accounted for only 0.8% of the Australian market.  A class once owned by the Toyota Tarago it is now dominated by the Koreans with the Kia carnival and the Hyundai iMax taking over 50% of the segment.

But there are basically two sizes of people mover.  The traditional large vehicle and the compact segment.

Various companies have had a go at a compact people mover – the Renault Scenic, Holden Zafira and Mazda Premacy – all have now departed.

Kia persists.  In 2000 Kia gave us the Carens and then in 2008 Kia the Rondo.  They have just launch the latest model of the Rondo

Motoring journalist Ian Crawford and I have tried it out and he joins us on the line to tell us all about it.
