In 1967 the first Corolla was sold in Australia. It was a little two door car with a 1.1 litre engine. Since then Australians have bought 1.25 million Corollas. Australia was the first export market for the car and we also became the first country outside Japan to assemble Corollas.
Worldwide they have sold over 40million which represents one car every 37 seconds for the entire 47 years of this name plate.
Way back in October 2012, Toyota launched the 11th generation hatchback onto the Australian market. But it has only just now launched the sedan version.
They are different cars for different markets.
And the new sedan is big.
