Subaru with their WRX and Mitsubishi with their Evo have provided high performance sedans with a youthful image. Another category would be the hot hatch which in earlier times was epitomised by the Peugeot 205. Now there are a considerable number of players in the field but a stand out performer for many years has been the Volkswagen Golf GTi. Now the Mark VII Golf was released in Australia last year and now we have the GTi Performance model. Brent Davison from the Newcastle Herald and the Illawarra Mercury and I have been driving the car. I have to say that the handling was just stunning.
