Mitsubishi is starting to release some new models – finally.
And they are keen to be seen to be developing new product.
They have just released the new model Outlander – a medium sized SUV
We are getting it very quickly. It’s only been a few weeks since it was launched for the first time at the New York motor Show.
• What constitutes a face lift, upgrade versus a makeover – or a whole new model
• Tetsuro Aikawa – MMC President and COO – “bumper bar to bumper bar all changed” – not quite
• Evolution not revolution
• 39 things to make the Noise, Vibration and Harshness better
• Improved quality of door closure through revised door seal structure
• Better CVT
• Drove the 2 litre petrol manual – certainly needed to work the gears.
• Does it look good? (Mitsubishi say that looks are one of the main features that people are wanting in this type of car. The old model looked a bit conservative/bland, the new model has a more aggressive line – Grill splays out below the bumper bar line (a bit like Lexus).
• LED lights made for interesting headlight design).
• New design 18-inch alloy wheels
• $28,490 to $46,490 – Three models LS, XLS, Exceed
• Is the car important for Mitsubishi? (Mitsubishi has been through a lean time. Their models are getting quite old especially things like their best selling Triton ute. They need to be seen to be developing new models.
